Music
Welcome to the LHS Music Department
Why should I choose Music?
Music is a universal language, and we are particularly lucky to live in a country which is rich in culture and musical heritage. At Llanishen High School, we are proud to be a fully inclusive department where anyone can shine and develop their lifelong passion for the subject, regardless of whether they have no prior experience or are a Grade 8.
Within the department we have the following facilities:
- Two teaching rooms equipped with keyboards, drum kits, guitars and various tuned and untuned percussion
- A brand new computer suite equipped with Apple Mac computers for composition
- A brand new recording studio fully equipped with a 16-track digital mixing desk and high-quality recording equipment
- Four practice rooms for instrumental lessons and group work
We work closely with the Cardiff County & Vale of Glamorgan Music Service to provide instrumental staff to LHS. Learning an instrument is a fantastic way to develop coordination, memory, decoding, emotional intelligence and build confidence – studies have shown a strong link between playing an instrument and improved performance in other subjects and general wellbeing. If your child would like to start instrumental lessons at the school, or you would like to find out any more information about individual or group lessons please visit Cardiff Education Services, or speak to Mr Grimstead or Miss Gronow.
