Llanishen High School has signed up for the Principality Building Society Cardiff Half Marathon this October to raise essential funds for City Hospice.
Established in 1984, City Hospice is a registered charity which offers palliative care in the community for people with life-limiting conditions, as well as offering support to their families.
With 18 individuals signed up for the race on Sunday, October 1 including Mr Harry Trelawny, Mr Chris Maidment, Mrs Sarah Parry and more, the school is aiming to raise £6,000 for City Hospice to help those in the charity’s care live out their final days with care, dignity, and respect.
Sarah Parry, headteacher at Llanishen High School said: “We’re pleased to see so many of our teaching and support staff sign up to the Cardiff half marathon this year in aid of City Hospice. This is a charity which is really at the heart of the community and we’re truly in awe of the fantastic work that they do to support people during some incredibly difficult points in their lives.
“We’re feeling hopeful about meeting our ambitious fundraising target and we are very grateful to those who have already contributed. But for now, I want to wish the very best of luck to everyone taking part – here’s to a summer of training!”
Returning for its twentieth-anniversary celebration, the Principality Building Society Cardiff Half Marathon is set to be the biggest event of its kind yet, with over 27,500 gearing up to take part.
Nicky Piper, Corporate Partnerships Manager at City Hospice said: “Llanishen High School has been a fantastic supporter of City Hospice over the years, and we feel so grateful that the school has generously chosen to fundraise for us this autumn, committing to raise £6,000. This will go a long way to support our patients and ensure that they get the support that they need.”
